Yara Jahrling is a strangely rambunctious woman who danced into the world on New Year's Day in 1984.

She discovered her addiction to photography in her first roll of badly framed shots of her younger siblings in pajamas and vampire teeth at age eight, courtesy of her father's Christmas gift of an inexpensive point and shoot camera.

She spent high school and college breathing in chemicals in the darkroom as she slaved over photographs, listening to the same CD on permanent repeat for hours at a time. There were no iPods yet. She graduated magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College in 2005, earning her BA in Dance and Photography, and leaving high with excitement. Or maybe that was still the chemicals. She recently earned her MA in Digital Arts from Maryland College Institute of Art.

Yara is inspired by the curious combination of nude photography, old hoofer tap dancers, young girls in pink tutus, fresh baked cookies, being barefoot, analog photojournalism, and the Planet Earth series.

She would love to hear from you. But she'll probably do most of the talking once the conversation gets underway.
